Deferring Dementia Action

A person at a moderate stage of dementia may choose to explore the possibility of deferring action related to the risk of moving to a more advanced stage of dementia.  Deferring dementia action may include steps such as:

  • accept the risk of moving to a more advanced stage of dementia on the chance that the person will be lucid enough at some point at the more advanced stage to perform the deferred dementia action

  • accept the risk of moving to a more advanced stage of dementia on the chance that an arrangement will lead to the desired result.

All aspects of these or other options should be examined before proceeding.
