Bar/Bat Matzevah: Transition to Aging

General Information

  • Who is a Bar/Bat Matzevah for?  A Bar/Bat Matzevah is for a person who feels it is the right time for them to look ahead past their working-life years, and wants to plan and build their life as they will live it in their Aging years.  In general a Bar/Bat Matzevah is oriented toward a person in their early 60's, but is good for anyone looking ahead and thinking about how they will live the Aging stage of their life.

  • What is the value of a Bar/Bat Matzevah?  The value of a Bar/Bat Matzevah is the difference between a person moving into the Aging / Completion of Life stage of their life with intention, vision, direction, and mission, or the person "falling" into this stage of life and trying to figure out what to do with their life then.

  • How does a Bar/Bat Matzevah work?  There are two parts of it.  The first part is for the person to look at their life in many ways, and then to envision how they want their Aging / Completion of Life stage to be.  The second part is to create a Bar/Bat Matzevah celebration, to mark and celebrate their transition into the Aging / Completion of Life stage of their life!

  • What are the rules of Bar/Bat Matzevah?  There are none!  Bar/Bat Matzevah is based on the Jubilee Year of release and renewal -- you could say that release and renewal are the "rules" of Bar/Bat Matzevah.  A person builds their plan for the Aging stage of their life, and does their Bar/Bat Matzevah celebration, exactly as they choose to!
